Two different kinds of Soba Guests on different Days;

   (posted; Soba Noodle page)     Flowers in the frames are Soba-flowers.

*We had Two different kinds of Soba Guests on 7th and 13th this month*

        Adult guests from band group my husband involved
The lady who plays the keyboard in the band had wished to try making soba "蕎麦打ち, soba-uchi".  The other is the vocalist who loves soba noodle and seemed to have fun watching how noodle is made.
After making dough first; as you can see, she was carefully observing how husband does and how the process should be.  It seems "spreading the dough evenly thin" and "the cutting" is the  two hardest parts.  She looked quite motivated♡♡♡

Now , her turn to try♪
Soba noodle she made was excellent 'soft and evenly cut'.  My husband said marvelous job and even cannot believe it was her first try. We had nice soba lunch time and enjoyed chatting togather♬♬♬

         ♪ Husband's ex-lady collage and her daughter
She approved my posting her daughter (maybe my old friends might notice she has grown a little).  She's become an elementary school student this year.  She's having piano lesson for a while and played us the music she learned♬♬♬

Of course, she has to take a little English lesson from me p:-)
The 'LEGO' she's making was the congratulatory present for her from us. We asked her mom what she might want to have in advance.  Oh, she has amazing concentration 'Surprised us' seeing how she'd finished making all that by herself in a short while during the visit☆☆☆

Always Happy seeing she enjoys my husband's soba a lot and ate them up♪ Lunch with her Lovely Smiling Face♡♡♡

Lovely Young Soba Guests;

(posted; Soba Noodle page)

On Saturday, one of my husband's ex-colleague brought her two friends
to try making soba  (蕎麦打ち・ soba-uchi).

  Three lovely ladies♪  The Japanese towel for her head had pretty Japanese design.
  And the wooden bowl from one tree trunk must have impressed them.

              How to use the rolling pin to widen the dough is the hardest part.
                  And cutting the dough with a big knife.
And we had soba lunch chatting together after they tried hard.  They smiled when I joked them that my blog might make foreign friends think my husband's hobby may be a common one for Japanese.

Hope you are having or had a wonderful Sunday.
Thank you very much for stopping by, See You Soon;

Future Newly Weds at my house;

 (posted; Soba Noodle page)

*Surprise Surprise*

         The young lady is my retired husband's ex-coworker
The small middle aged man and the woman decorated on the cake are the unofficial mascots of two cites in Hyogo-pref. Her favorite characters. We have many local mascots like these in Japan now.

The couple is going to marry next year and her friends in the picture are not planed to attend the ceremony as she'll going to move a bit far place. So her friends prepared to set "surprise cake cut" for them at our house. They brought some things like the Santa costume my husband was wearing and 'the bow tie, hair bow' etc. We were so happy that the couple looked impressed by the thoughts from her friends♡♡♡  Lovely time with Soba lunch and cake :-) They approved to post this lovely little event♪

*Extra*
He played this song called 'いい日旅立ち iihi-tabidachi'  link for the lyric  This is the popular song used to be sung at the wedding ceremony often; it is an old song almost 40 years ago. I remember hearing repeatedly when mine was getting close:-)

             *My husband showed the whole process at first*
She is carefully observing how he does;
Well-Done, my sweet girl♪
    We ate Soba together for lunch. I think you all must be familiar with my soba guests.
    I'll skip that part p;)  For my new friend, please click my Soba link page in my sidebar.
    The top page of the link is all explanation about Soba.)

* For an extra, this is the summer decoration of my favorite cake shop*

Rice Bran Bags;

 (posted; Soba Noodle page)

       Hello friends; I do wish you all are doing fine whatever the extreme weather;
              cold or hot, whichever you have.
The other day, I've finally made 2 Rice Bran Bags from my husband's request after hesitating for a bit of long time. They are for the use of making his soba-tools burnished and also preventing soba-dough from sticking to the table or the rolling-pins.
So sorry for the brownish pictures; it was a cloudy day and it was due to the electric bulbs color of the lights (not the fluorescent bulbs) in his hobby room.

      Soba making table and rolling pins he needs to wipe with the rice bran bag.

Showing how he does (mind you, he never help me for the house chores p;)
I haven't used sewing machine after making these covers for his tools in the picture below about 3 and a half years ago when he started making soba. The machine is a really old one p;)  We need  to roast rice bran before putting them in the bag.

Thank you very much for stopping by, Love You Always;

Sweet Guests♡♡♡

(posted; Soba Noodle page)
We had lovely guests 'who are my husband's ex-lady-colleague and her daughter with her friend'  experiencing making soba "蕎麦打ち;soba-uchi". The girls are second graders of elementary school. Their experiences will be used for their summer homework of 'picture diary'  And I was a bit sad the pictures got reddish due to the light in the room.

Let's start challenging♡♡♡

They enjoyed eating soba made by themselves.
We were happy to see them having eaten whole the plates
Great to see them motivated doing English learning cards '英語 カルタ’.
And also they did really good for trying to write their names in Roman Character.
Even though it was their first try☆☆☆

PS> So sorry posting this before visiting you, friends!!! Their mother has face-book page and she kindly had already posted about this in there.  I was busy several things especially cleaning  & weeding for my parents' empty house to prepare for Obon.   Love You Always and promise visiting you soon, xoxo

Kitty-chan & Dokin-chan Soba plates

(posted; Soba Noodle page)
Hello friends;  Last Sunday, my husband made Soba and brought it to his ex-lady-colleague house from her request. She has 3 little girls (smallest is still a baby). He thought 2 elder girls would be excited to see his Kitty-chan & Dokin-chan plates he made for little ones. He wished these characters on the plates kind of surprise when they appear after they eat. However they were happy for the guest and interested in what he brought for them. The moment they saw the plates, they were overjoyed and even asked where is "Doraemon, ドラエモン" (*^_^*)
He looked happy telling me that they were facilitated by both plates and Soba.
My pictures ended up really bad so I put them in the scrapbooks.

This is Dokin-chan in Anpanman.
Her name is from the onomatopoeia or the sound of heart throb in Japanese. "doki doki; どきどき".  Never seen the Anime, but I thought it is a cute name.

 I hope you all are having a wonderful week.  Wishing to visit you soon, friends!!!

Soba and Pizza lunch♪

(posted; Soba Noodle page)
Last Thursday, we have been to the restaurant where they serve soba and pizza; it located about half an hour from our house. My husband heard about the place and we could finally visited there. His checking the smell of soba must have drawn his attention p;)   The owner and he had a little conversation. Later he said that the decorous owner takes great care of the flours for soba and pizza.   Also, I made him a bit blushed taking many pictures there(^^;)

        It was a refreshing surprise being able to enjoy both noodle and pizza♡♡♡

overlooking the lake from outside deck

       We also could observe how pizzas are baked. We loved this sweet young staff.

Soaba had a good flavor. And I don't care for cheese much but I found it was just sprinkled over the pizza and teased nice.

  Thank you very much for stopping by, hope you are having a wonderful week
       (PS>  I'm busy for some errands today.  Visiting you later, my friends.)

New Soba-noodle plates♪

(posted; Soba Noodle page)

                Another handmade wooden Soba-noodle plates.
As my husband plays saxophone, he put musical codes on the plates. I can't read musical score and never knew about "coda".   I thought we won't be able to see the design after putting soba on there p;)

His former ones from the old post;

Thank you very much for visiting and hope you will have a wonderful new week
I expect to be busy this week;  see you around weekend, dear friends♡♡♡
