Christmas cake & Rice-Cake Making
On 23rd, one of our friends & us made Rice-Cake together. You all might know that in Japan we customary have Rice-Cake at New-Year season. When the word ‘mochi‘ or ‘o-mochi‘ (with the honorific “o”) is used, the Japanese would only associate it with traditional plain mochi. To make mochi, the glutinous rice is first soaked in water, then steamed, and finally mashed and pounded until smooth and formed into a typical round shape.
Our lady friend who is my husband's coworker (he is retired now) helped us & made them together. She agreed that I posted her in this blog. Let me show you our annual event to prepare for New Year season.
Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteDearest Miyako,
ReplyDeleteYour Mochi was tedious to make but looks so yummy!
Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
Hugs,
Mariette
