*Gifted Pictures of Tea Ceremony of New Year*
The lady keyboard player of the band my husband involves kindly sent me the pictures she took at "初釜・hatugama" she attended. "The First Tea Ceremony of New Year". It sure is reminiscent for me thinking back attending this kind of gathering when young.

Dearest Miyako,
ReplyDeleteFondly I remember our tea ceremony in Japan...
Great bird photos as usual.
Hugs,
Mariette
Have never quite understood what the tea ceremony means or can mean. Once I was at a wedding from friends who did a ceremony at the reception of their wedding. My sense was that this was about knitting the two families together. Love especially the brown-peach tea cup. What is the striped bag for? So interesting for All Seasons! Have a great week, Jesh
ReplyDeleteMiyako - I am sure looking at these pictures is not the same as participating in a tea ceremony; we all have hopes for events that we want to attend in the future when the pandemic is in the past. Thanks for sharing this tradition, and the lovely bird, with everyone at Mosaic Monday.
ReplyDeleteMiyako, so sorry you were unable to attend the tea ceremony. Hoping things will change this year and there’ll be a celebration of life and health as we knew it. Happy week to you!!
ReplyDeleteHello,:=) It was nice of your friend to send you these pictures. I remember attending a tea ceremony in Tokyo, and thought it strange that the cups did not have handles.
ReplyDeleteIt was a both elegant, and sedate ceremony.
Miyako, thank you for trying so many times to leave your comment. I got five of your comments because I have a moderation mode, and comments only show up later when they have been checked by me.
Wonderful... We love drinking etwa.
ReplyDeleteHappy MosaicMonday
Lovely photos! HOpe you have a great 2021.

So lovely!
ReplyDeletePriceless treasure. I have a set of tea ceremony cups and teapot. Even though I seldom use them these are my priced possession. I use it to drink Chinese Tea. Maybe I shall take them out and use it everyday instead. No, I don't have tea ceremony at home.
ReplyDeleteThe tea ceremony has such long traditions in Japan. Beautiful cups! Wishing a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteHello Miyako,
ReplyDeleteThe tea ceremony sounds lovely, the tea utensils are pretty. Your Meadow Bunting is a beautiful bird, great photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post! Take care, enjoy your weekend!
What a lovely ceremony! The tea cups are so pretty. Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteI miss sparrows they were always spotted at our place and I am worried they are becoming endangered in our region . It would be my pleasure if you join my link up party related to Gardening here at http://jaipurgardening.blogspot.com/2021/01/garden-affair-birds-attracting-plants.html
