Liking this post to "Saturday's critters", Camera-Critters;
*Female Indian Fritillary (tumaguro-hyo-mon;ツマグロヒョウモン)*
When I visited Xavier Memorial Church (former post), I spotted a beautiful yellow butterfly I've never seen. My husband seeing my pictures in the car before leaving the church (due to his handicap with his legs, he mostly waits me in the car), he also got SO amazed with my finding, what a luck♪ So sorry for many pictures of the same butterfly. I got really excited and happy to show you :-)
She was SO busy having lunch (sucking up nectar) flower to flower and didn't even mind me having been a bit close by.
Part of its name 'hyo-mon' means 'Leopard Spot' in Japanese.

My first pictures of critter with flower ♡♡♡ |
This butterfly was enjoying lunch at the flower garden made in front of the church entrance.
I should have taken the picture of the garden to give you the better idea(^^;) Never have I expect to have the big luck♡♡♡
PS> Let me add two pages I found it was a female Indian Fritillary.
One and the Other. Please scroll down :-)

she's beautiful! both interior wings and exterior wings are gorgeous, but very different from each other. :)
ReplyDeleteSimplesmente maravilhosas!! bjs, ótimo fim de semana,chica
ReplyDeleteOh she is just beautiful. (Isn't it odd how we always think a butterfly is a 'she'? They are so delicate it is hard to imagine they might be male, but of course some of them must be ;>)).
ReplyDeleteI really love that you showed several pictures of her ... it shows how patient you were and how long she stayed feeding ... each one is a tiny bit different, which makes it seem like we are right there with you watching. I love this whole post!!

ReplyDeleteHello Myiako!:) Oh what a pretty butterfly! This is one I have never seen before, but the Fritillaries are all very beautiful.Their upper wings, and underwings like this one, usually have different patterns, equally beautiful in their own way. Miyako, you are always so thorough in whatever you post, and I have so enjoyed reading about both the male and female of the species.Sending you a warm hug from Portugal.
ReplyDeleteHi Miyako san. Wow what a beautiful butterfly! Love her gorgeous wings with hyo-mon. The interior hyo-mon is very beautiful, too! She must have been very hungry and the nectar from those flowers must be so yummy. Looks like she was really enjoying the sweet flowers :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend, Miyako san!

Nice that your husband patiently waits for you in the car and he too gets excited.
