Short post from last Thursday;
My friend came to my house and we had a reviewing of PC usage together. As I needed to use flash-memory for my new PC. She also wished to know the way how to save the information from her PC into them.
She is examining my PC
She kindly bought these for me♪
*My old typewriter
Yesterday, I've noticed that I still have my old typewriter deep back on the shelf which I was using long ago for teaching English at home. I don't even remember how the floppy disk worked now. Haha, I think it's ok to throw out that one, although I'm a bit emotionally attached to it as it was my first one of the kinds.
When I was a young teenager, I really had longing for the elegant, efficient looking beautiful secretary appeared in the TV drama from U.S like "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.". Oh, I remember so amazed with the huge sized computer as well at that time. A little retrospective post, too. (*^_^*)

It sounds like a great visit you had with her, my dear friend Miyako, and she also brought you some lovely gifts. Ah yes- I, too, remember the typewriters of the olden days..

ReplyDeletethe glass flowers in vases are so beautiful! what a sweet friend!
What lovely gifts your friend brought for you dear Miyako. I hope you managed to get things sorted out on your computers. I learned to type on one of those big black typewriters back in the early 1960's. It was like driving a double decker bus. Hee Hee! Hope you're having a good weekend. Sending love & hugs from West to East x
ReplyDeleteGood Evening Miyako
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely gift from your friend and to spend time with her must have been lovely for you both.
I think the old typewriter is wonderful and I would keep it
- soon it will be an antique.
Hope your husband is well
and that you are now completely efficient on your new pc!
Take care of yourself and have a lovely weekend

Think how much twchnology evolved in the last 20 years! Amazing!
ReplyDeleteThis post made me smile, Miyako. I learned to type on an old typewriter. Then we got the Selectric which had a little ball, and I was thrilled to be able to "type" in script! I was one of those efficient secretaries from 1972-2000. Then I was a bank teller, 2001-2009, still using a computer constantly. Much prefer retired life. hee hee xo
ReplyDeleteI hope you and your friend got the computers figured out. She brought you some beautiful gifts.
ReplyDeleteI learned to type on one of those old typewriters. I would love to have one now. I would keep it if I were you!
Hugs from Minnesota!
I remember my first typewriter too, I got it when I was 14yrs old and it was blue and I loved it. I sometimes wish I had a working typewriter now it would make writing letters on pretty letter paper so much easier since I find it difficult to print on some of the pretty paper I like. I was never a fast typer but I make few mistakes which I guess is something......
ReplyDeleteWow I haven't seen floppy disks for a long time! I remember my mom used typewriter in the office and it made a big sound as she typed :-)
ReplyDeleteThe gift your friend brought is so cute! Is it flowers made of glass? I used to collect glass animals when I was small. I think I still have some in my hometown.
It does sound like a lovely visit and such nice gifts !
ReplyDeleteI loved my typewriter, still have it and sometimes use it with my mixed media art.
Oh my "the man from uncle" was a favoite show.Such good memories dear friend.
Love & hugs
Miyako, Thank you for joining my site and what I can share. Your old typewriter wasn't that old. I remember Man from U.N.C.L.E. that is so funny you mentioned that show. I loved all the trick spy stuff he had.
ReplyDeleteHave a pleasant day.
An award please....
ReplyDeleteDear Miyako, Hope that you're having a lovely Sunday. It's amazing how much the technology has evolved over the years don't you think?
ReplyDeleteI am slowly getting back to life again, not fully recovered but at least I can sit up by the computer a little.
Enjoy the rest of your day my friend.
Hugs x
Oh! I learned to type on one of those big old typewriters. I remember you had to hammer the keys so hard, I had a bit of a hard time adjusting to an electric typewriter!
ReplyDeleteI love that typewriter. I'm so pleased we have the "delete" and "backspace" buttons now!
