Rurikoji Temple , Cluster Amaryllis and Funny Dragonfly;

*Rurikoji-temple*
My husband needed to visit a musical instrument store  for fixing his saxophone. The store is located in our capital city. He kindly took a detour. Let me post about this temple again. Unfortunately, bit early for the season of autumnal leaves.

Rurikoji (瑠璃光寺, Rurikōji) is a Buddhist temple in Yamaguchi City, best known for its five-storied pagoda that is a national treasure, Built in 1442.
the pagoda is justifiably ranked among Japan's three greatest, alongside those of Horyuji Temple near Nara and Daigoji Temple in Kyoto.
As it is the capital city, we often visit there, not like this time mainly for  official procedure.

"mizukake 水掛 Watered Deity of children"
The believer throws a ladle full of water over the statue and watches it drip down,
hoping his wish will be fulfilled and his soul purified by this ritual.
*Cluster Amaryllis and Autumn darter (Dragonfly)*
The cluster-amaryllis is planted well to prevent rats and moles to the bank and ridge between rice fields. Because the flower has poison and the water leaks from the hole of rats and moles.
This Dragonfly(Autumn darter) was caught by my husband's friend.
Luckily, we took pictures and a video of its funny movement and released it,

Thank you very much for stopping by ;
I always appreciate your sweet comments;

  1. Beautiful photos from Rurikoji temple. Lush green surrounding the temple is stunning! I imagine gorgeous autumn colors will fill there in coming months :-) Cluster Amaryllis adds bright colors on the ground. Didn’t know they were planted for rodent prevention! That is quite a funny movement by the dragonfly :-)
    It’s getting cooler around here. Beautiful autumn is coming to Japan as well :-) Have a wonderful new week, Miyako san xo

  5. Dearest Miyako,
    That temple was worth the detour, even if the autumn colors were not yet present.
    What an abundance of Cluster Amaryllis; great photos.
    You surprised me with the dragonfly's sound... haha, not from it but going with its motions.
    Sending you hugs,
    Mariette

  6. Miyako - the temple is amazing, both for its own architecture and for its setting in the lush gardens. A wonderful place to take pictures. I wonder about the amaryllis - if it has poison that affects rats, does the poison also get into the rice and affect humans? An entertaining dragonfly! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday, my friend!

  10. Am very impressed by especially the side way view of the dragonfly, Miyako, stunning! Now I come to think of it, I have never seen the cluster amaryllis. So beautiful and bright with the browns and greys of the buildings in the background! How nice of your hubby to make a detour for you! Am smiling, because I ask that very often of my hubby, or drive in a particular lane, especially on the busy freeways here in California. Many thanks for sharing your experiences of the season for All Seasons, dear Blog Friend, and wishing you a happy week!

  11. I didn't know that cluster amaryllis keeps mice at bay. The same plant that's bad for mice is good for dragonflies. Mother nature is amazing.
