Exhibition called "marimekko spirit", Finland meets Japan;

*Exhibition from Design house called "marimekko" *
To celebrate 100th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relationships between Japan and Finland, "Ceramic Board Painting Exhibition" is now being held at Yamaguchi Prefectural Art Museum, Urakami Memorial Hall. It was my first experience to see art from Finland ♫  We can enjoy innovative art which Finish artists depicted Japan with the Finish atmosphere as well as their original works.
I feel happy and honored to have a chance seeing this exhibition in this celebrative year, as I have a good blog friend in Finland.
Pamphlet and the work called "Rain of Cherry blossoms"
☆ Works at the entrance
 Let me skip the title ☆
I had hard time to chose among the varieties of wonderful works
 Tea-Ceremony Room
 I found two pages about this room. How wonderful to see Finish style room;
picture page and concept page about marimekko tea ceremony.
The little arrow shows the "crawl-through doorway or crawl-in entrance to the tea room ", "nijiriguchi. にじり口" in Japanese.  The purpose of separating the spiritual space of the tearoom from the outside world.
* my first Dragonfly this year *
 This dragonfly is called "Pseudothemis zonata".  In Japanese "コシアキトンボ".  Literally translated "waist opening dragonfly"  p;-)

 Thank you very much for stopping by ;

  1. How interesting Miyako!

    Marimekko was founded by the textile designer Armi Ratia in the early 1950s and it was a fenomenon with its bold and colorful fabrics. Very popular indeed. Those big beaded birds are made by Birger Kaipainen and those ceramic plates maybe by Heljä Liukko-Sundström.

    I am so glad that Finnish design is once again displayed in Japan. Marimekko tea house looks quite modern, maybe not to the Japanese taste. But I don't know, perhaps you like it.

    In Helsinki we have right now an exhibition 'SILENT BEAUTY':
    "Nordic and East Asian art share the idea of everyday beauty and a connection with nature. The exhibition juxtaposes visual art, ceramics, textile art and architecture by Finnish, Swedish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese artists."

    I have not visited the exhibition yet but definitely shall. I leave here a link, in case somebody is interested:

    Thank you for this interesting post - hugs & greetings ❤︎

    And I've visited the link; "juxtaposes" is the important word for me now p;-)

  3. Beautiful exhibition! I’ve never heard of the company Marimekko before. I like their large flower prints. Very lovely. The birds are adorable. Tea house looks very interesting with Japanese and Finnish tastes mixed together! I wonder what the large object is in the back of the room :-)
    Beautiful photos of dragonfly. The coloring reminds me of Oreo cookies :-)

    Have a wonderful week, Miyako san! xo
