In the middle of this month from three houses, Crape-myrtle with two colors♪
Crape-myrtle, we call this flower "百日紅、サルスベリ. saru suberi"
These two Japanese names have different context even if we call both characters "saru-suberi". First Chinese Character means "redish for 100 days" and second one means "monkey slip" due to the tree sap. Although dictionary said not exactly so, this tree does have slippy skin.-:) And I'm introducing PINK color for Friday's Hunt meme.
Coincidentally, the owner of this house and the 3 dogs were inside the garden.
She kindly allowed me to take pictures of her babies as well. |
Pink one from different house.
The name of the tree was put beside the tree for the kids to be able to read. The old owner told us that he used to be a school teacher
|
White one from different house. |

Hi, Miyako san. Your Saru suberi flowers are so pretty! They look extra beautiful with stunning blue sky in their back! We have very similar looking trees in our subdivision. One tree with white flowers and one with reddish, visible from our deck. I never knew the name but now I think they might be Saru Suberi :-)

ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!
Dearest Miyako,
ReplyDeleteAha, we do have a lot in common as the crape myrtle grows here very beautifully in Georgia, even along the Interstate they planted them.
We have white and purple ones and first the big white one was alongside the driveway.
Because of the very sticky tree sap, from the flowers that got on our cars and was nearly impossible to get rid of. Also on the tiles of our balcony. The dripping is the waste or "honeydew" of small insects called aphids. But we have it now growing in the lawn, behind our gazebo where the sticky stuff cannot do any harm.
Love your puppy photos, they way you frame them in is darling.
Sending you hugs,
Mariette

ReplyDeleteHello Miyako
ReplyDeleteWe have been out of touch for most of summer and I envy the gardener who can grow crape myrtle, pretty flowers but not adapted to my Canadian zone.
The 3 sweet dogs were nice to share as well.
I have been inspired to try to grow Crepe Myrtle here on Vancouver island - it is so very lovely. You certainly have lots of choice where you are, with the pink and the white. I hope that things settle down for you soon - don't worry about visiting and commenting. Those are things for more leisurely times.
