After we finished the public procedures at the city office last week, I wished to check the cherry tree alongside the 'Majime-river' close to the office. Luckily, I found some birds there ♪
You look so skinny from the front :-) |
Wished it was a better shot :-) |
Seeing the birds resting and sleeping only with one leg sometimes, I've been wondering the reason. I checked with pc and found that it's something to do with 'capillary vessel' and 'body temperature regulation'. The one they are standing on must get really tired, I thought :-)

ReplyDeleteDearest Miyako,
ReplyDeleteWell, most birds have a mechanism to 'lock' their leg straight. You can read here a lot more: http://www.newscientist.com/blog/lastword/2008/10/balanced-lifestyle.html
Lovely photos, also from the cherry blossoms and your miniature Empire State Building!
Our cherry blossoms were at their best while we were in Arizona but we did get to see before and after.
Hugs and love,
Mariette

ReplyDeleteThank you for coming by and sending prayers for me.

Great birdie pics, and I love the flowers, too.
ReplyDelete~
Pretty cherry blossoms and interesting birds you found by the water. I couldn't stand on one leg for long.
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking to Mosaic Monday Miyako.
Hello Miyako! I love your beautiful blossoms as we had some snow here on Sunday. I also love the herons photos and the flying one is very good as they are hard to photograph. Yes they are very light too. We had to capture one on the pond that got caught in fishing line and I was very surprised at how light it was. It was sent to rehab and released which we were happy about.. Michelle
ReplyDeleteOne of the most beautiful times of the year is when the cherry blossoms are in bloom...especially in Japan!
ReplyDeleteYou saw some beautiful birds! And your pictures are charming.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting about the reason the birds stand on one leg. I go to Yoga class and one of the poses is a balance on one leg ... I am not so good at it but I try to imagine I am a heron or crane. It certainly does not come naturally to me!
