Plant Fair;

The other day, my husband wished to buy moss (Polytrichales) for our tiny garden.
There was a small Plant Fair using the local big mall's empty space.
I'll start showing you the well-pruned pine tree;

This pine tree is called "Five-leaved pine"; so sorry this is my direct translation from Japanese "五葉松". Unlike the normal two-leaved needle pines, this kind doesn't grow so big like other kinds and popular for 'Bonsai'. Its leaves does not grow so long either.  I wish the picture from pc could help you understand.

He is from Kyushu who owns landscape gardening store.
There were various kinds of plants and he was kindly dealing with costumers.

*Just showing you some of the plants*
alpine rose. Callistemon speciosus. Jasminum nudiflorum

moss (polytrichum juniperinum) my husband bought
Thank you very much for stopping by;

  3. Dearest Miyako,
    What a lovely garden that is for showing off the Japanese special way of pruning. That gardener from Kyushu proudly stands next to the perfectly shaped trees. What a bonus for having him deal with customers in a friendly and educational way.
    Thanks for sharing; you keep surprising us!
    Hugs and love,
    Mariette

  9. Oh this was a fun way to spend some time Miyako. I loved this post. We don't have a garden any more, but I still love to go to garden exhibits and stores.

    The art of Bonsai has always fascinated us. We have met some people who were fairly good at it (for being US citizens... one of them had trained with someone in your country) ... And I would love to know how that apple-like fruit tastes.

    Thank you for taking me to the plant fair (it really felt as if I were there with you!)
