Finished What I had to do;

(posted; Japanese culture page)
So sorry that I've been too busy to visit you. I haven't been in perfect physical condition, but slowly getting better.

As my father passed away this year, I had to print out and send the early post cards which letting our relatives and friends know we have to excuse (sending & accepting) the new year cards.   (we normally don't send Christmas cards in Japan)

I had posted about our new year card here. It is our traditional custom to send new year cards to the people whom we know.  Even to the old friends we usually don't have contact with. According to the Oriental Zodiac Sign, next year is the year of the horse. So you can see the horse design or Chinese Character "午.馬" in the card like these.  (picture page)

I bought more than 70 cards for us specialized in mourning and printed them out with the design like you can see below. Letting others know who passed away in our family this year.  So my old friends whom I don't see much also know about the news. I wonder if there is a way for you to know these news from others in the western countries like ours. (picture page)

As for the P.S;  like last year's post, I wish to write about the people's characters according to the zodiac Signs. you can see in what year you were born and check yours here.  By the by, I was born in the sheep year, p;)

Quote for the character who were born in the horse year;     skillful in paying compliments and talk too much. They are skillful with money and handle finances well. They are quick thinkers, wise and talented. Horse people anger easily and are very impatient.

Inheriting Formalities has almost finished and we are getting ready for the 49th day service when relatives gather and cineration is held by the family monk.
Whew, I felt so secured finished sending the cards now.  Wishing to have more relaxed next week p;)    See you soon, friends;

      Linking this post to Our World Tuesday.

  4. i am glad the notices have been sent out to family and friends. here in the states, most often an obituary notice is published in the local newspaper where the person resided, or even back in their hometown area. when my mother-in-law passed, i sent out cards to people in her address book as i wanted them to remember her and offer up prayers for her soul.

    i was born in the year of the rabbit. :)

  5. Dear Miyako, I'm so very sorry that you haven't been feeling too well recently. It's hardly surprising with looking after your father, and then losing him like that. I hope that you will now find time to look after YOU! Beautiful pretty cards, and a lovely idea to send New Year Cards. Sending you love & Hugs x

  6. Hello Miyako..I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well. Hopefully you are back to 100% very soon. I am sure the stress of the last few months has taken it's toll on you. The cards are lovely. I don't like that I was born in the year of the RAT..EEEEK. haha I see your zodiac goes by year instead of months. Very different from ours. Be well and we shall hear from you when you are able. Hugs XX

  8. Dearest Miyako,
    Here in the USA we never ever have received such a mourning letter. In my birth country, The Kingdom of The Netherlands they always do and it is quite a task for family members to get the list ready for all family members and also for friends. They do publish also in the news paper but this mourning letter goes out very formal. I like that cultural aspect very much! It also does list a correspondence address for sending a sympathy card or letter.
    Like you, I am a rabbit... and Pieter is a snake. Our daughter Liz is a rabbit too and daughter Anita is a sheep...
    So glad that you are slowly getting back to good 'emotional' and physical health as both are interlinked. Once all the formalities are taken care of, you can finally let go and rest.
    Hugs to you and wishing you all the best for the final leg of these formalities.
    Mariette

  12. Your traditions sounds very loving and the cards are exquisite ~ As for how we would let other people know about changes in our families (death) it would probably be by phone for family and if just acquaintances a death notice might be put in the local papers by the funeral director ~ I like your way as it is very personal, loving and creative ~ I only speak of what I know ~ there may be other traditions depending upon the religion or philosophy ~ beautiful cards ~ wonderful post and be well ~ carol, xxx

    Don't you worry about visiting. We can all see you have a lot to do, and hope you are feeling better soon.
    I like the tradition of a mourning card, we don't have anything like that here.

  17. Dearest Miyako,
    the cards look beautiful! In Austria, we also have the custom to send cards to friends and family members when a dear relative has died. These cards are rarely as beautiful as yours!
