Water Lily (Green Day)

This Water lily is called "lotus Sun Yat-sen".  Pictures are from "Chofu Garden" in my pref. Japan. The flowers of pale pink on a white background begin to bloom in the early morning with dawn. The flowers will close again in the afternoon. Repeating 4 times, its petals will be dropped on the fourth day.

        (all pictures from PC)

Sun Yat-sen lotus
As a reward of helping revolution for China, Sun Yat-sen presented the four fruits of the lotus to Mr. Takashi Tanaka who lives in Chofu-city. Sun Yat-sen is referred to as the father of the Chinese Revolution and had been exiled in Japan (1918) 1918.  Then, the germination is asked to Ichiro Ohga “Dr. lotus”.  One fruit of the 4 germinated at University of Tokyo in 1962, "lotus Sun Yat-sen" root has been sent to the garden and named after Sun Yat-sen. And its season is from mid-July to mid-August.

For Japanese people, flower of the water lily is connected with Buddha;
but that will have to be the future topic, hehe.

    Im Moment haben wir bei uns sehr viel Regen, da würden Wasserpflanzen gut wachsen, sich wohlfühlen...:-)

  8. Those are beautiful flowers and I loved hearing the story behind them, my dear friend Miyako. It is somewhat sad to me that they drop their petals after only four days, but they do make the most of their short time with such gorgeousness, don't they?

    Thank you again, my dear friend, for enlightening us and putting it together in such an arttactive format~
