First Skype

Husband talking through Skype

Click to play this Smilebox scrapbook

My Dear student of mine who lives in Chiba after marring last month; the girl whom I posted her wedding before; wanted to talk with us through Skype. My husband seemed pretty amazed talking through screen.
I only used it a couple of times several years ago with foreign friends of mixi (unfortunately, close friends in there no longer using it and neither am I). I remember clearly the sensation I had with this TV-phone. Whatever it is, first experience must give you quite an impact, he seemed to have enjoyed chatting with her for a while.
Well, I found the site called "Smilebox" from the post of Dear friend of mine Ann link who creats wonderful digital arts. This Smilebox provides us various ways of arranging pictures with variety of categories of designs and things. After struggling for a long time, I finally have done it with his pictures. Maybe I could have chosen a better design. Hubby sounded a bit reluctant showing up in my blog again, though (^^;)

Thank you for stopping by and wishing all are having marvelous week, also wonderful time for coming Thanksgiving.

  1. How nice that you are using Skype. It's such a great way of keeping in touch with friends and family so you can see them face to face. I'll check out the photo link you suggested. You created a nice little collage with them.

  3. Hi dear Miyako. You are very good with keeping up with all this new technology, and you did a really good job with your little Smilebox picture, even though hubby wasn't very happy at being featured on your blog again! (Hee Hee!). Skype certainly does seem a great way of keeping in touch with people far and wide. Hugs to you from West to East.

  4. Dearest Miyako,

Well, through Skype we call my parents each Sunday. Not only via PC but Blackberry offers Skype too. So with a cup of coffee, speaker phone on, we can talk with Mom & Dad. Just calling a land line with Skype is the cheapest way of communication. We no longer have a long distance phone line, only for local calls and free 800-numbers. Works great! It was invented in Luxemburg and now it is owed by eBay...
    Love to you,

    Mariette

  5. I'm not familiar with Skype but have a general idea after reading your post and the comments from your followers. This would have been a nice way for staying in touch with my parents when they were alive or when my children were young and living so far away from any family. Isn't technology wonderful? Hubby doesn't like to be featured on your blog? How funny. Love for the NP

  7. Skype is truly a blessing for us. My parents live in Australia and it has made it possible for us to keep in touch regularly without the enormous costs involved with speaking on a landline. So pleased to know you enjoyed experiencing it, too! Big hug xoxo

  15. You did a great job on the Smilebox. We don't skype, because our computer is so old that it doesn't have a camera! It's something we need to check out, though, because our granddaughter lives so far away. :(

I have never used Skype and don't think I will as I am a little camera shy.

Your photos are great, well done you.

Hope all is well with you and that you
are getting better weather than us here in Ireland,
    wet, windy and awful.

    Almost the weekend, yippee!!
