*My tool for Hearing Comprehension*
When I was in a first grade of a Junior High School a lot more than half a centuries ago, I could have a great experience with hearing the natural English pronunciation. On my way to school, I saw a cute girl whom I hadn't met before. I tried to talk to her. I asked her if she moved here recently, her answer was a really surprising for me. Her father was a doctor and she had been in America for a few years with her family. I asked her name in English" or it wasn't quite a questioning form". "Name Please?" p;-) She tried to explain her situation a little in English with an EXCELLENT pronunciation. Well, this was a first encounter with natural English. Surprised to know that even the teachers at school couldn't read book the correct way. I asked my father if I could have a Cassette Tape player to improve using lips and tongue. English has Vowel & Consonant.
And also I LOVED some American Dramas and was watching them in Japanese these days. I'm enjoying them in English now with varieties of others. My father bought me the player like the left one below. Although I don't have a cassette player now, I still keep some tapes.

Same Dragonfly I posted last week were flying on our way back from shopping. It sure was surprising to be able to see these many flying together and reminisced seeing so many when young with friends together;)

ReplyDeleteWell, so far I've digitalized some of the cassette tapes and I have to look for one more, where my Dad did capture the singing of the Nightingale. So pleased with having Pieter's lecture at one of the conferences now rescued and digitalized. Quite a challenge but you could do it as well.
This week, when my San disc will arrive, I will start my final project on a newly bought Kodak scanner for negatives and slides. Found some old negatives that I really want to save!
Times have changed so much from when we were young till now... things might rapidly again become obsolete.

Miyako - when I was young, my parents bought a set of records that were designed to help children learn to read. I loved listening to those records and reading along with them. I became a huge reader with a large vocabulary, and I have no doubt it is because my parents got me off to a good start! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!

Hello Miyako,:=) I still have a few music tapes and cassettes. I listen to the music in the car, but the cassettes are unused in a cupboard somewhere I can still watch Bewitched, and Murder she wrote because my late husband down loaded them for me. I'm amazed that you captured a dragonfly in flight. Well done!:=)
ReplyDeleteI still have a few cassettes and I have a tape player in my closet at school. I teach primary age children. My students liked to record themselves, with the tape player, when we wrote poetry and had read alouds. Those were great times! Thank you for linking up and have a great week.
