Thank you so much for your kindness this year;

*First "Black Kite" with unsatisfied pictures*
While coming home from errand this week, I found this "Black Kite" perching on the electric wire. At first, I thought I might make use of the yellow local train I saw. And then right after train passed, this first kind bird for me came into my eyes. As you can see from my third picture, it was really far away; So Sorry for my bad pictures.  My husband was smiling with my excitement saying they were kind of easy to find ones when he was young.

*News about "Oriental Stork"  from local river*
From local TV news on 13th this month, I learned a lady in our city found this bird, which said to bring happiness.  They flew to the downstream of the Koto-river (very close to my house) and having lunch leisurely in the rice paddy.  This is the article about the news (sorry this is in Japanese) which I found on pc next day. You might guess how I wished I could see them(^^;)   They sure look like cranes ♪

  2. Dearest Miyako,
    What a chance for seeing this kite and the yellow train!
    Guess your husband is right, back when we were young, nature didn't seem to be as disturbed as it is now.
    Birds have less of their natural habitat left and so do other animals.
    Love that Oriental stork news. Always a marvel if you can witness such beauty nearby.
    Sending you hugs for the special last Sunday of 2015.
    I've spent so many hours in frustration as my Feedburner is not working. It only shows a post from over 6 days ago... So I will quit for a while.
    Blessings to both of you and relax.

  6. Hi, my friend! I do hope you have a good Year-end, a happy time.

    Both types of bird you saw are amazing...the black kites are similar to our red kites, I think, (though it would be interesting to see their tails, to be completely sure) and I have seen those Oriental storks on a wonderful TV program called Wild China. they are so elegant and do a funny up-and-down dance sometimes.
    I truly hope they bring you and your husband much happiness!

  11. Your photos of the black kite are fine Miyako, this is my story trying to capture hawks in my area - too far away or fly off before my camera is ready. :-)
    Interesting about the storks and very newsworthy!
    Thank you for participating in Mosaic Monday and sharing your beautiful country.

  15. Your bird photos are so cute, the hawk and the ruffly storks with the black tail feathers. It's great to have these birds where you can get close enough to photograph them. I enjoyed your header art, I'm puzzling why the clock numbers go counter-clockwise, is that how the Japanese clock is made? I've enjoyed reading your blog this year too, dearest Miyako, and all the insights you have provided into the Japanese culture and lifestyle. Have a Happy New Year, though maybe you celebrate a different new year? Hugs from the PNW, Hannah.
