Our Pigeons;

Linking this post to "Saturday's critters", "id-rather-b-birdin’ "

This is the pigeon (Rock Pigeon, maybe) we see all around our area. In our city park, they all look really chubby as they are well-fed by the visitors there. They are very friendly following us, or knew we don't harm them.

I was happy seeing these 2 pics have the blurry back. Worth to post (boast) ^^;
I wish I knew how I did it. (even with the close-up, background not always get blurry)

Extra; When I was a child, I thought all birds had bad eye-sight. It was because we call the disease "night-eye" as "bird eye; tori-me, 鳥目".  I remember surprised to know owls and eagles have very good eyes. So different form the idiom "bird's eye view" p;)
I found that it came from the shape of very old Chinese coin look like the bird's eye.

Thank you very much for stopping by.

ps. (written; Saturday Night Japan time) I'll promise to visit you tomorrow. I DO appreciate your sweet comment, friends.

  4. Love the pretty pigeons. Yes, I have gotten that kind of background (I think it is called bokeh) by accident too. (I don't know how I did it and still don't.) You made lovely pictures and it doesn't matter how you did it!

    Interesting about the language .. "bird's eye".... Children often take things more literally than they are meant to be taken!

  5. Pigeons are always lovely to watch especially when they are so tame and come close to us even some feeding out of one's hand. Great shots of them. Let me know if you crossed the bridge today with me!. Have a wonderful weekend.

  6. Hello Miyako, I do enjoy it when pigeons visit our garden too. I always think how gentle they are. Yours have such a pretty iridescent colour on their necks. Your photos are lovely and the little child amongst the pigeons is delightful.
    I am no professional in photography and someone else could explain it in more technical terms, but my Husband once suggested that if I stand further back and zoom the camera in and focus on to a particular subject then the background becomes blurred. I tried it and it works for me. Enjoy your weekend and cheerio for now :D)

  8. Dearest Miyako,
    Beautiful photos of indeed, very well fed pigeons. Well, they are pretty but they also have been over the ages the carriers of a lot of diseases. So they have been fed at times special food that prohibited them from breeding as to limit the infection pressure.
    They don't look the same as rats to most people, yet still they are the very same vectors of lots of diseases...
    Hugs and happy weekend!

  9. Hi Miyako san. The first two pictures look very beautiful with pigeons on focus and blurry background! I don't know how to do it, either, but I find professional photos come out like that often. Other pictures are so lovely, too. Great capture of a little child among these pigeons :-) But, wow, they ARE chubby! They must be enjoying all the food they get!

    Have a wonderful weekend, Miyako san!
