When I was a girl, I loved "Lassie's" series♡♡♡
When I was having fertility treatment around 30 years ago, this furry baby was the one comforted me mentally. He was a surprise present from my husband. He knew I loved the Lassie; coincidentally, Sheltie was popular at that time and my husband thought medium-sized one was proper to have as we can have them outside and not too big for me to walk with.
He told me he had an appointment one Sunday and came back with the baby dog. Haha, I thought he looked different form Lassie when I saw him at first. Well, he only had about 5 years of life. He died of filaria. Only if we knew about the vaccination then. It was right after I gave up the treatment which lasted over 5 years. His name was Tony; named after the astronaut from the tv drama "I Dream of Jeannie" I loved when young p;)
Everyday my husband came home, he let me know barking a couple of minutes before his car comes into the garage. Tony could distinguish sounds of our car but it was the only trouble we had with him thinking about the neighborhood.
awww. i know you have said that you cannot have another dog. but i think the love they provide every day is worth the anguish we feel when we lose them. 5 years or 15, never long enough...
ReplyDeleteDear Miyako,
ReplyDeleteYour dog Tony was such a handsome dog and it is one of the hardest things when we have to say goodbye to our loved pets.
Sending hugs
Carolyn
Hello Miyako, I love your sweet dog Tony! What a cutie he was! I have had so many dogs over the years. When I was young I would find stray dogs ( or they would find me) and I bring them home. My parents would get upset because once I started feeding them they would not leave. Since being with my hubby we started out with 4 dogs and now we only one our Goldie Girl. I could never go with out having a dog, they are like family. I wish you a happy day and I hope all is well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful dog Tony was, my dear friend Miyako. I love the sweet look in his eyes. It's so painful when they don't live out their days as they should, but the five years he gave you comfort and love must bring wonderful memories.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever had another dog? They are special beings, sweet dogs.
he was a beauty Miyako san!
ReplyDeletei'm sure the 5 years your precious baby had was wonderful.

ReplyDeleteI know how you must have felt when Tony was no longer there, I miss Naila every day! And guess what I am re-watching the 'I dream of Jeannie' series, they are really funny!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely dog. I have lost two dogs, one old and one young so I know how hard it is to lose a pet. You obviously have a very thoughtful husband. That was a pretty awesome gift he gave you xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a handsome dog. That was a lovely gift from your husband. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious story about your dog Tony.
ReplyDeleteYou should have another.
I can't recall not having a dog in life and would be lost without my best friends through the years.
They are the greatest comfort, asking for nothing in return but love and food.
Have a beautiful week.
Love & Hugs
He was a beautiful dog Miyako and yes losing a pet is very difficult.
ReplyDeleteI remember when we lost our last German Shepherd almost six years ago now. I said I would never have another one.
We are going in a few weeks to get a new puppy and I am very excited. My wish for you is that you too will be blessed to be able to have another loving pet too!
Thank you for my daughter's birthday wishes. She lost her dog 4 years ago. Misty was 18 years old. Pamela, our daughter can't have children and her pets are her life. She nearly went crazy after losing Misty.
She got Misty as a puppy six weks old. Pam was 19 years old when she took Misty home and 38 when Misty died. It was very very hard on her!
Okay now enough said about sad things. I send wishes for happiness your way today and always!
Big hugs my new dear friend! ♥
Hi dear Miyako. I always seem to be bringing up the rear these days! I also used to love the Lassie films, and I Dream of Jeannie, where TOny was played by Larry Hagman. What a wonderful gift that your hubby gave you, when he brought Tony home for you. So thoughtful and loving of him. I'm sorry that Tony only lived for 5 years, but he was a beautiful dog. Sending love to you my dear friend x
ReplyDeleteHello Miyako!
ReplyDeleteHe was beautiful. It's always so sad to lose a furry baby, even when they're old their lives are so much shorter than ours. Would you ever have another? xx
Oh no!, you have the same case like me my dear Miyako.
ReplyDeleteI love lassie too when I was kid.
I had a dog called Leon, he died when I departed to Rm, He was sick when I was sick.

I knew how does it feel
my love to you Miyako.
take a good care
Oh what a precious memory of your Tony! He was so handsome. So sorry you lost him after 5 years. It is always very hard to lose our fur babies, but I'm sure the time spent together was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOh what a lovely dog. I remember when I was about 7 a neighbour moved in a cross the road with a collie dog. I used to go and visit and just brush the dog for hours :) Thanks for bringing back that happy memory.
ReplyDeleteDearest Miyako,
ReplyDeleteThat sure was a beautiful dog and too bad he died of filaria. It is always very sad to loose a pet. Too bad he lived outside and never could cuddle up with you... Those pets are so loyal and so loving!
Hugs to you,
Mariette
Dear Miyako,
ReplyDeleteTony was a beautiful dog and I am sure he was happy during the time he was with you. Dogs are such loving animals and we grow to think of them as real family members so once they are gone from us we feel the loss like we would for any member of our family. I understand why you wouldn't want to go through loosing another dog but perhaps the joy one would bring may be worth giving another dog a place in your home. Enjoy your day little sis. Love and hugs from your bs
Oh honey, Tony was a handsome love. I know that sometimes, when we are having hard times, nothing can pick us up like a furry companion. They are so giving and bring such comfort. I am so sorry to hear of his early demise. There are still so many things we don't know about our animals. Many blessings to your heart and memory. Warmest hugs to you, Mina
ReplyDeleteI loved the Lassie films as well. Some things are just universal aren't they? Your wee sheltie was a lovely boy, very intelligent looking. Our pets are great companions, we had a big, soppy, black labrador. He was with us for 15 years and it is sad when they go. They give a lot of pleasure.
