3.11. 2011 Japan

Hello, friends.
I had really marvelous time with my old friend. Thank you very much for your lovely comments for my reunion after long time. I explained about my blog and she also seemed amazed with your kind words.  I'll post about it in a couple of days after I sorted out pitures and things.

March 11th  is the day people all of Japan mourn for all the people who were killed or still suffering from the "Great East Japan Earthquake"  A official memorial service from government of the disaster will be held at the National Theater in Tokyo. Japanese Emperor, who recently had heart surgery, has expressed his strong wish to attend the service.  Here is the page from Wikipedia you can see the detail about it.

I will quote some part of it;
It was the most powerful known earthquake ever to have hit Japan, and one of the five most powerful earthquakes in the world since modern record-keeping began in 1900.  The earthquake triggered powerful tsunami waves that reached heights of up to 40.5 metres (133 ft) in Miyako in Tōhoku's Iwate Prefecture, and which, in the Sendai area, travelled up to 10 km (6 mi) inland.
The tsunami caused a number of nuclear accidents, primarily the ongoing level 7 meltdowns at three reactors in the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant complex, and the associated evacuation zones affecting hundreds of thousands of residents.
The Japanese National Police Agency confirmed 15,850 deaths, 6,011 injured, and 3,287 people missing across eighteen prefectures, as well as over 125,000 buildings damaged or destroyed. The earthquake and tsunami caused extensive and severe structural damage in Japan, including heavy damage to roads and railways as well as fires in many areas, and a dam collapse.

Here is the page from You-tube of the sence
I thought it is pretty hard for us to see these scenes repeatedly, so I didn't pasted  the page directly in here.  truly hope their souls rest in peace and people who are still suffering from it can be revived soon.

I prepared this post before going to see my friend, I've just come home. I'll catch up with your posts from tomorrow, my friends☆☆☆
                Thank you for stopping by    Love you always, xoxo          Miyako*

  1. Hi dear Miyako. Looks like I'm the first one visiting you today. So pleased you had a lovely time meeting up with your girlfriend. I well remember that awful day last when when the disaster hit your poor Country. There was a big item on the television news about it last evening. As you say, may their souls rest in peace, and I pray for your country as it tries to rebuild itself. Hugs to you from West to East x

  2. Such good news hearing that your visit went so well. I look forward to hearing the details. Yes, the earthquake disaster was horrific. We all watched the most dreadful scenes over and over again, in shock that such devastation could occur so quickly. I doubt those who were directly affected by it will ever fully recover from the trauma of their ordeal. We in the West are thinking of you all today as you honour and remember your brave and fallen countrymen.

  11. Dearest Miyako,

    So glad you had a great trip and wonderful visit with your friend! Sad day on the 11th when we remember all the victims in Japan. Here we will start daylight saving time but it does have a different meaning for me. Especially since I was in that very area in July of 2007.
    May God bless the people that lost their lives, bless their loved ones and those struggling to recover from it...
    Love to you dearest Friend!

  14. Sweet Orchid, I am so glad that your reunion with your lovely friend went so well. It is always a warm experience to embrace someone special that you have not seen in awhile.

    My heart still breaks over this tragedy that struck Japan. They had a special report on it this morning during the "CBS Sunday" show I watch and my husband and I sat silently shaking our heads in sadness at the terrible losses. The children at that school during the drill nearly made me cry. Honey, I am so glad you and your family were spared and wish to all who listen that nothing like this ever happens again. My warmest hugs to you, sweet friend.
