Orchid Grown on the Pine-tree Trunk

These are the orchid pictures grown on the pine-tree trunk. I'm not sure this phenomenon with this combination is rare or not. (I don't know how to describe with botanical terminology or even in Japanese, haha symbiosis?)
Yesterday when I was preparing lunch, I happened to hear that news-show from local TV channel was interviewing a lady who owns this pine tree. It has been 3 years since this orchid started to bloom and surviving and also she said she didn't know how it happened. I wished to introduce this in my blog and I could have her phone-number through telephone-office. She lives several cities away from my city. She kindly sent these pictures to my PC, to a total stranger.
My husband was giggling, watching my kind of pushy manner ^^;)

From her information, I made DVD of her interview from the rerun in the evening show. Well, it sure is pity that DVD from TV (which is CPRM mode) cannot be uploaded into PC. I contacted to support-center of the PC maker and learned about it, the staff sounded really sorry for me and I was!!!
Well, at least I am happy to find this Powerful and Lucky Orchid.

PS.      My commenting problem finally solved and I explained about it in my former post's comment tag. I sure am appreciated with all of your kindness and concern!!!       Well, I'm posting a bit frequently as a Japanese (non English-speaker). Haha, it might be better for me to take a reast for several days.

I love the things that seem to grow in places they shouldn't,almost being defiant. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Dearest Orchid,

Well, your 'namesake' is actually an epiphyte (air plant). In Indonesia we had an entire row of these orchids on our patio. They were all growing on a plank with little wood whool (shavings and leftover wood). They use the tree or plank they grow on as physical support and get all their nutrients from the air. http://www.insideorchidsecrets.com/orchid-types/
Just read more about orchids on the above website.
    Have a great weekend.
    Lots of love,
