At nearby Pond;

Last week, my dragonfly lover-husband whimsically went to check nearby little irrigation reservoir (pond) if he can find any;  Yey, he came back saying that he found some and took me there.

*Golden Flangetail*  ’ウチワヤンマ; means 'Fan Lamenting' in Japanese :-)
                              *Common Skimmer*
And 'Pseudothemis Zonata' joined:
I was sad I missed taking zoomed picture of  'Pseudothemis Zonata'

Common slider (赤耳ガメ, red-ear turtle) with Golden Flangetail
This so-called 'green turtle' when young, propagated in Japan once kept as pets.
My husband proudly (p:) told me that he has a bit better knowledge how they move (territory thing and id. etc).  Amazing (he doesn't have so much of good eyes) he could point out where it perched in a far distance.

My busy Obon days (Soba making as well, p:-) finally over♪
Normally, our summer heatwave settle down after Obon; I hope so!
Wishing you all will have a nice weekend♡♡♡

Beautiful pictures! I love the one where two dragonflies hanging out over the pond together. The shadow of trees makes the scene even more beautiful! Love the photos of turtle, too. I've read about propagation of turtles on news site. Too sad some people just throw them out and that led to this situation.

Now that Obon is over, I hope you can relax :-) And hopefully it'll cool down. Here it has become a bit cooler this week. We could even leave windows open during night :-) Have a wonderful weekend, Miyako san xoxo

Lovely nature photos, dearest Miyako! I like the 2 dragonflies, the Golden Flangetail with the pretty green patterns on its thorax and green eyes, and the Common Skimmer with pretty blue eyes. They always look like they are smiling to me. I had a little pet red-eared slider turtle when I was a child. My daughter has some now, they are big. I liked your header with the dragonfly in the photo frame. Hugs from the PNW, Hannah

How beautiful these dragonflies are. I used to catch or at least try to catch them when I was a kid. I enjoyed creeping behind them without threatening their peace.

Hello dear Miyako, the dragonflies are gorgeous. I saw lots of dragonflies yesterday, but they wouldn't sit still long enough for me to get pictures of them. Have a great week!

Dragonflies are a unique insect with their shimmering opaque wings, aren't they? You've captured some beauties Miyako and have actually named them - well done!
Thank you for linking to Mosaic Monday.

Beautiful shots of dragonflies. I love dragonflies too. I find it tough to capture them they move too fast, way faster than my shutter :)

Good afternoon from an again rainy New York Miyako. These are wonderful photos. It is very hard to get photos of these insects as they are so often on the move defending territory or catching food. I love the turtle photos as well... Michelle

I have enjoyed catching up with you and a bit of 'armchair travelling' in Kyoto and Osaka in the next post. The dragonfly pics are really good! How nice for you to share that moment with your husband and appreciate nature together.
Wishing you happy days, until next time,

Love the way you and your husband are working together to find these beauties and to learn about them. I'm a bit envious of those wonderful dragonfly pictured I must admit. They are too fast for me... Thank you for sharing these beautiful insects... And the sliders as well. We have those turtles here in Oregon and I bet they came from pets as well!

Your dragonfly shots are beautiful, Orchid. They are such delicate creatures and flit about so quickly that they are hard to capture with the camera. You and your husband have a lot of patience to watch them. I hope your week is going well.
