Loves to have guests

My husband made Soba to his ex-colleague's family. His wife and two children came to pick it up; coincidentally I was about to do my English class for a young girl who you might have seen in my previous posts. We got togather in his hobby room and spent a time for a while. I was happy that two children seemed to have a nice time. My husband loves to have guests especially after his retirement. He loves chances to have kids visit his room, even snacks and ice-cream are always ready especially for neighborhood's kids.

At times, at a loss how to be with little kids,
Our next-neighbor's seven-year boy and four-year girl sometimes knock lightly at the back door (really cute manner) and visit us.   However little kids tend to get carried away, not all of them know the decency at other's house. It is totally different from teaching English for Junior-hi or High-school students. If I show irritated attitude, they stop comimg or starting behave better. Although I love them and the feeling some kids love me back or respect me is GREATLY REWARDING for the person who wasn't blessed with a child, it is easier for me to think disciplining isn't my job when facing restless young students. Funny that I'll never write this in Japanese. Well, I'll try to be honest to my feeling for the little cute guests within the bounds of common sense.  Sometimes I can be a tiny stern old lady, haha.   Love hubby who Loves kids,

  2. What a sweet post! I notice that younger generation sometimes lacking to discipline their children, too lenient. Here if you spank a child on their bottom, if old enough they can report you to police! xo

  3. Recently a small boy was playing in the street and I stopped my car to give him a chance to leave the street and he rudely said, "Don't look at me old lady." This child could not have been older than three or four. Too many children lack supervision and good manners. I like children but do not always want to spend time with them.

  4. I am always amazed to see how little time parents spend teaching their children how to behave.
So many these days are rude, lack proper manners and respect.
Just not the way I was raised or how I raised my children.

  5. Dear Orchid, I always think you can blame the parents for bad behaviour of children & congratulate them for the children's good behaviour :) But it's the parents that should lead the children into making the right decisions but actions & words, it's not your job to discipline of couse but maybe 'encourage' LOL... Imagine what a poor family life that 3 year old boy must have to think of even saying something so rude to a stranger Maddyrose, please you weren't tempted to hit the accelerator pedal ;)

  7. the photos are adorable. love the ones of your husband with the kids.

i think i would like soba noodles. next time my son takes me out for japanese food (he has a time or two) i'll about it.

it is hard to know where to draw the line. parents don't always discipline the way they should and children don't always show respect for property belonging to others. my daughter and her husband do a great job of making isaiah be polite and respectful.

  9. Dearest Orchid,

This only shows that your are a naturally born teacher! Discipline is THE most important thing in life. High morals and ethics are on the decline these days and that's a shame. BUT those youngsters have to live in the world they create... We will be long gone!

    Love to you,

    Mariette

  10. You a stern old lady???? Never!!! You are as sweet as sugar! Your husband seems like a sweet man too :)

My mother taught my brother and I manners: to always say "thank you" and "please." If I had children, they would have manners too. Bratty kids irritate me! Ha! Ha!

    Hugs to you, Orchid! xxxxxx

  12. So many people do not discipline their children as they should be and sometimes it really shows. I just can't image you ever being stern, you are so sweet!

I love these pictures of the children and your hubby. Too cute! How sweet that those little ones come to visit you two. It just shows what beautiful people you are.

Thank you so much for the lovely birthday wish. Sending warm hugs to you, my sweet friend.

  13. Your photos show how happy your husband is with his young guests. They can be trying but hopefully they will learn by your good example how important manners are and how to behave.

    Hugs~
